My life is one big jumbled mess most of the time. There are slivers of sunshine on occasion, but I always have something that knocks me on my ass.
Earlier this week, my job asked me to temporarily take a position about 30 minutes further away from home than my current position. The hours are marginally better, but the commute will be close to 2 hours. I have an unlimited Metrocard, so that’s not a problem, but 2 hours? Thank God for Netflix and Handbrake. I’d probably die of boredom. It is supposed to be for a month, but I think this will be permanent. I wish the economy was better or I had better mojo so I could get a regular job in my field. My current employer has been there for 8 years, but it obviously time to move on.
Today, my landlord (we sublet) texted to say that he’s moving to Greece (!) and we’d either have to take over the lease or move out by the end of the month. Problem is, I don’t have that type of money to take over a lease and I already owe my doctor all of my spending money through December because of an insurance misunderstanding. (We thought that my visits were covered from day 1, but they weren’t covered until August. So I owe $125 per visit going back to January.)
Anyway, one of my roommates said he’d take over the lease but I’d still need to help come up with the security deposit. I think I can handle that, but it will take some creative accounting and delaying some things, including possibly not going home for Christmas or Thanksgiving.
When it rains, it pours.
